King Charles made a subtle change to the balcony lineup at trooping the color, swapping positions with Prince William and the Princess of Wales.
Both Charles and Katherine underwent cancer treatment, and the king knew the Royal Family’s followers were eager to see them together.
Kate, the Princess of Wales, was confirmed to be attending the King’s annual birthday celebration just hours before the event.
Charles has spoken about his pride in his daughter-in-law since they both began their health battles in January. Catherine underwent abdominal surgery and King Charles underwent surgery to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Despite the wet and windy conditions, the Royal family joined the parade in covered wagons, with Catherine beaming and waving to the crowd with her children.
Prince William joined Princess S and Prince Edward on horseback, while Catherine wore a recycled white Jenny Packham dress with black details and a Philip Tracy hat, pearl earrings, and an Irish guard’s regiment brooch.
