King Charles made a nod to his three whales grandchildren during a speech at the state banquet in honor of Emperor Naruto and Emperor Maso of Japan.
He referred to Japanese culture icons, including Hello Kitty and the video game Pokemon, and reminisced about their four-decade friendship.
Prince William responded with a smile. The Prince of Wales, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, was accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Queen Camila and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester wore glittering diamond jewelry for their special event.
The only British royal to wear the new royal family order was Queen Camila, who chose to wear the lotus flower Tiara, a favorite of the princess. The pearls and diamonds of the Tiara were taken from a necklace gifted to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother by King George V.
The Princess of Wales, who is currently focusing on her cancer recovery, made her first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis. William appeared less lost without his wife by his side, displaying confidence and a friendly approach.
