He also had atherosclerosis, which is a thickening of the arteries caused by an accumulation of plaque on the inner membrane and is frequently associated with diabetes and other health problems.

As reported, 67-year-old Ray filmed “Dangerous Waters” in the Dominican Republic last year. According to a source close to him, he perished in his slumber.

A team of emergency personnel raced to the building, but he was unable to be rescued; his body was transported to the forensic institute in Santo Domingo.

The esteemed actor is survived by his then-fiancée Jacy Nittolo and his then-daughter Karsen, whom he had with his ex-wife Michelle Grace.

In March 2022, the actor was observed out and about in Los Angeles, where observers noted that he appeared ‘noticeably pale’ and required assistance from the valet to put on his overcoat.

The source added that he was’slow and stable on his feet’ and that Nittolo had to help him transport his luggage from the vehicle to the hotel.

However, he appeared healthier in photographs taken at the beginning of May as he strolled with his fiancee through Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles.

In 2018, Liotta began appearing in advertisements for Pfizer’s Chantix, a smoking cessation medication. In one ad, she said, “I tried to quit smoking on my own for years.” I couldn’t do it. I required help.’

In 2022, he was set to co-star with Taron Egerton in the film Black Bird, and his untimely demise stunned admirers as he was in the midst of a career revival.

Pfizer recalled all lots of Chantix in 2021.

From the FDA:

Pfizer is voluntarily recalling all lots of Chantix 0.5 mg and 1 mg Tablets to the patient (consumer/user) level due to the presence of a nitrosamine, N-nitroso-varenicline, at or above the FDA interim acceptable intake limit. As alternative suppliers have been approved in the United States, Pfizer is undertaking this precautionary measure.

Long-term ingestion of N-nitroso-varenicline may be associated with a theoretical potential increased cancer risk in humans, but there is no immediate risk to patients taking this medication. The health benefits of stopping smoking outweigh the theoretical potential cancer risk from the nitrosamine impurity in varenicline.

Nitrosamines are common in water and foods, including cured and grilled meats, dairy products and vegetables. Everyone is exposed to some level of nitrosamines. These impurities may increase the risk of cancer if people are exposed to them above acceptable levels over long periods of time.

Liotta starred in an ad campaign for Chantix to help adults stop smoking.

The actor said he quit smoking with Chantix.
