Hobby Lobby has closed all of its stores.

Hobby Lobby has announced that all of its stores will be closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Initially, the company chose to stay open during the COVID-19 outbreak, but CEO David Green faced criticism after sending a message to employees saying, “While we do not know for certain what the future holds, or how long this disruption will last, we can all rest in knowing that God is in control.”

As of April 3, 2020, at 8:00 p.m., all Hobby Lobby stores will remain closed until further notice.

In a press release, the company said that furloughed employees will continue to receive benefits like medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance through at least May 1, 2020. Hobby Lobby will also cover the cost of these benefits.

Hobby Lobby said they are ready to reopen their stores in a safe way when the situation improves. They look forward to welcoming customers back. In the meantime, they are praying for those affected by the virus, for the health care workers helping the sick, for economic support for businesses and employees, and for wisdom for leaders.
