A wealthy mom in Florida is facing criticism on social media after showing off her “storm-proof” mansion on TikTok during Hurricane Milton.

Posting under the name Kricketfelt, she shared several videos of her and her family getting ready for the hurricane. In the clips, she boasted about staying in her luxurious home, which was built by her husband, despite warnings from authorities to evacuate for safety.

In one video, she said, “This is really gonna make you mad,” as she showed off her huge house, claiming it was made with solid concrete and built to handle storms. She also dismissed comments about her wealth, saying, “I don’t care what people think.”

After posting, she turned off comments on her video. However, before that, people were puzzled by her attitude. Some criticized her for staying, with one person saying, “Don’t call emergency services if things go wrong for you.”

This isn’t the first time she’s posted about storms. Two weeks ago, she updated her followers during Hurricane Helene, which caused widespread damage and led to over 230 deaths.

Her viral videos got a lot of reactions from social media users. One person, @radotv1029, joked, “Why is that rich lady in Florida, with her big three-story house, mad at the internet?” They added, “We wouldn’t even know you were still in your house during Hurricane Milton if you hadn’t posted about it. What’s going on with you?”

As Hurricane Milton hit, Kricketfelt posted another TikTok showing her house getting hit by strong winds. You could hear fear in her voice as she said, “I’m just going to record this… it’s getting really bad… oh my god!” That video got over 2 million views. She also mentioned she couldn’t go outside, saying, “I shouldn’t go outside anyway.”

In another video recorded at night during a power outage, she said, “There goes the power, the whole street,” but reassured viewers they had a generator.

Hurricane Milton is still causing destruction across Florida, leaving 2.8 million people without electricity. Even though stronger materials like brick and concrete are available, most American homes are still built with wood.
