Firerose, the wife of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, has accused him of “extreme” domestic abuse in her response to his divorce filing.
In court documents, the 36-year-old Firerose said the 62-year-old Cyrus acted in an unpredictable and unstable way.
She accused him of severely verbally, emotionally, and mentally abusing her.
According to her claims, Firerose accused Billy Ray Cyrus of serving her with divorce papers less than 24 hours before her scheduled preventative double mastectomy surgery.
She stated that she was ‘reasonably afraid to leave or seek any type of help’ due to concerns that Cyrus would interfere with her surgery or her lengthy recovery at home.
However, Cyrus disputed Firerose’s allegations through a statement from his representative.
The statement accused Firerose of still being madly in love with him and claimed she had begged Mr. Cyrus to forgive her and take her back just two days after he filed for divorce.
The statement also suggested Firerose’s allegations were especially confusing and suspicious in its veracity.
The complaint said that in 2020, Firerose was told she had a gene that could lead to breast cancer.
Doctors told her in March 2024 that she should have surgery to remove both breasts as a preventative measure.
Firerose scheduled her surgery for May 24, 2024. But the weeks before were chaotic, the complaint says. Cyrus often yelled at her and made her feel trapped emotionally and psychologically.
When she tried to talk about her concerns, Cyrus would call her horrible names and say she was just using him.
Additionally, Firerose also reveals Cyrus’s brother and sister-in-law came to her home and demanded she leave for 3.5 hours.
She had to leave the home and was forced to postpone her surgery because she had no place to live and depended on Cyrus’s health insurance and promises to pay for the surgery.
Billy Ray Cyrus filled for divorce from Firerose in late May.
Cyrus filed for divorce in late May as he said they could not agree and that she acted improperly as his wife. He also asked the court to cancel the marriage, saying she tricked him.
Last week, Cyrus asked a judge to stop Firerose from using his money. He said she spent almost $97,000 on his credit card between May and June.
In her response, Firerose argued that she had access to Cyrus’s cards since they moved in together in 2022 and never had a spending limit.
She also claimed that $45,000 of the disputed charges were an accidental refund.
The high-profile divorce case has become a bitter legal battle, with both parties trading allegations of abuse, addiction, and financial misconduct.
