The idea of Prince Harry and Megan Markle losing their titles is not from the sovereign himself, but from a Member of Parliament who introduced a private members bill.
Tom Quinn, author of “Scandal of the Royal Palaces,” argues that such a move would cause more trouble than it’s worth.
He suggests that Parliament is unlikely to pass bills that remove Harry and Megan’s titles, as it would be a political minefield.
Quinn also brings up the history of Edward VII not losing his titles, as they have no political weight and are bestowed by the Royal Family.
King Charles is depicted as the reluctant player in the title-stripping drama, suggesting that the king wouldn’t want to hurt his son or daughter-in-law by stripping them of their titles. The royal title stripping Saga appears to be more of a political posturing than a real threat.
