In what experts are calling one of the most extreme cases of decompression sickness in medical history, Peruvian diver Alejandro Ramos Martinez, known by friends as Willy, miraculously survived a horrific diving accident that left his body dramatically deformed — and his story is shaking the diving world.
Willy, a seasoned mussel diver from Puerto Viejo de Pisco, Peru, was working underwater when tragedy struck: a boat accidentally severed his air hose, cutting off his oxygen supply 36 meters beneath the surface.
