Actress Jennifer Lawrence has appeared in many big hit movies, such as X-Men and The Hunger Games.
She was one of the highest-paid actresses in 2015 and 2016, with her films making over $6 billion around the world.
In a 2017 interview with Elle, Lawrence talked about her degrading and humiliating experiences in Hollywood.
While discussing the news about Harvey Weinstein, she recalled a time when an unnamed female producer asked her and several other women to get naked.
“One girl before me had already been fired for not losing weight fast enough,” Lawrence said.
“During this time, a female producer made me do a nude lineup with about five other women who were much thinner than me. We all stood side by side with just tape covering our private parts.”
“After that humiliating lineup, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as motivation for my diet.”
“I asked to talk to another producer about the unrealistic diet plan, and he told me he didn’t understand why everyone thought I was so fat. He thought I was perfectly ‘attractive.’”
“I couldn’t have gotten a producer, director, or studio head fired. I allowed myself to be treated a certain way because I felt I had to for my career,” she said.
“I was young and trying to stand up for myself without being seen as difficult. They did call me difficult, but the word they used was ‘nightmare.’”
“I didn’t want to be a whistleblower,” she said.
“I didn’t want these embarrassing stories to be talked about in a magazine.”
“I just wanted a career.”
She explained that after she got the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games Trilogy, she didn’t want someone who looked “too thin” to be seen as a good body image.
“I worked out every day because Katniss is strong, but I wasn’t going to be seen as representing the idea that looking too thin is positive.”
“I didn’t want young girls to skip dinner just to look like Katniss.”
