A 10-year-old girl named Vika from Sakhalin, Russia, found herself lost on her way home from school. Unable to remember how to get home, she wandered further away. Her family became frantic upon realizing she was missing and began searching for her. The police were also alerted to her disappearance.
Despite an extensive search, night fell, and Vika was still nowhere to be found. Worries mounted as temperatures dropped to -11 degrees Celsius (about 12 degrees Fahrenheit) and a blizzard covered the area with two feet of snow.
