Jason Browning left his son at his home with the then 18-year-old Raymond Frolander one day in July 2014 while he took care of a few errands. A close friend of the family, Frolander lived in the home with Browning at the time. The two often spent time alone together. When Browning returned, he caught Frolander raping his son.

Browning flew into a rage and began bea*ting Frolander, stopping the attack only when the man fell unconscious and his son pleaded with him to stop. He regained his senses, dragged Frolander’s body across the house and called 9–1–1, telling the dispatcher, “Bring an ambulance.
