Queen Consort Camilla Gives Up Horse Riding Due to Age, But Her Love for Horses Remains Strong

Queen Consort Camilla recently revealed that she has given up horse riding due to her age.

During a state visit to Germany with King Charles, Queen Camilla expressed her candid admission to a group of schoolchildren in Hamburg.

She shared that although she used to indulge in one of her favorite pastimes, she now believes she is too old to continue riding.

The Queen Consort spoke about her deep love for horses, which she shared with the late Queen Elizabeth.

Despite no longer being able to ride, Camilla still maintains a special place for these majestic animals in her life.

It’s worth noting that the late Queen also had a strong devotion to horse riding and continued the sport well into her 90s.

While on her trip, Queen Camilla stayed connected to her stables and even watched a video of one of her horses giving birth.

Unlike his wife and mother, King Charles does not share the same passion for horse riding.

As a result, Camilla has taken on the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Queen’s stables, maintaining relationships with trainers and ensuring their smooth running.

John Warren, the late Queen’s racing advisor, has previously stated that it is Camilla who possesses the greatest passion for horses, rather than Charles.

In fact, Camilla herself owns a few horses and is described as being “absolutely besotted by racing.”

Despite her commitment to horses, the Queen Consort was unable to attend the 40th anniversary celebration of the British Racing School at Newmarket due to adverse weather conditions.

Camilla is actively involved in several equestrian charities, including the Ebony Horse Club, the British Equestrian Federation, and the Brook Hospital for Animals.

Her love for horses dates back to her childhood, where she spent her days riding ponies and immersing herself in equine literature.

During her visit to Germany, Camilla also shared her other hobbies with school children, which include gardening, reading, and swimming in the sea.

By revealing her decision to give up horse riding due to age, the Queen Consort highlights that even individuals in the highest ranks of society are not immune to the effects of aging.

However, her unwavering love for horses is evident through her continued involvement in the equestrian community and her dedication to various charities.

What are your thoughts on Queen Consort Camilla’s love for horses and how it has shaped her involvement in the equestrian community?
