Meghan Markle’s Shattered Dreams: The Duchess Longs to Live in a ‘Palace’

Inhabiting the confines of Frogmore Cottage within the United Kingdom, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry embarked on a journey that carried unforeseen layers of complexity. Their union, though marinated in romance, unfolded in a manner distinct from Meghan’s early aspirations. The Duchess of Sussex had harbored dreams of inhabiting a grand palace, an ambition that took an unexpected turn. Renowned author on matters of royalty, Tom Bower, revealed in an exclusive interview with Closer! magazine, “In the throes of her romance with Harry, Meghan remained oblivious to the financial constraints that would dictate their lifestyle. The notion of residing within a lavish palace was a mirage.”
He further expounded, “The burden of amassing substantial wealth to sustain an opulent existence within the UK never weighed upon them during their tenure in a modest abode, which overlooked the vast expanse of the Pacific.” Meghan’s aversion to the idea of dwelling in a modest English domicile was palpable. To her, Frogmore Cottage represented a form of incarceration, a confining existence far removed from her royal fantasies.

This revelation aligns with Meghan’s candid confession in her Netflix docuseries, where she clarified that her residence was not within the hallowed halls of Kensington Palace itself. Her commentary during a particular episode resonated, as she articulated, “Kensington Palace exudes regality, as its nomenclature suggests. However, Nottingham Cottage, our abode at the time, was a diminutive haven.”

She went on to emphasize, “People perceived us as denizens of a palace, and, in a sense, we were. Yet, it was a cottage ensconced within a palace’s grandeur.”
