On Sunday, Russia denounced U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham for telling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that Washington’s backing for Ukraine was the finest money ever spent and that “the Russians are dying” while visiting Kyiv.

Zelenskiy said that “now we are free” to Graham at a meeting on Friday.

Graham reportedly added, “And the Russians are dying,” in a video provided by the Ukrainian presidential press office.

Graham remarks in the next segment of the video clip, grinning, “It’s the best money we’ve ever spent.”

The footage provided by the Ukrainian presidential press department did not clearly show the precise timeline of Graham’s statements.

A request for a complete transcript of Graham’s statements during the meeting was not immediately responded to on Sunday by the office of the Ukrainian president.

Russia criticized Graham’s remarks.

According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, “it is difficult to imagine a greater shame for a country than having such senators.”

Graham, a 67-year-old Republican, was referred to as an old idiot by Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.

“The old fool Senator Lindsey Graham said that the United States has never spent money so successfully as on the murder of Russians,” said Dmitry Medvedev, vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council. He ought not have acted that way.

As per usual, the Russia propaganda machine is hard at work,” Graham said in a statement sent by email to Reuters on Sunday in reference to Medvedev’s remarks on his visit to Kyiv, which he had used to call for the United States to deliver more weapons to Ukraine.

Zelenskiy had been informed, according to Graham, that Ukraine had embraced the American maxim “Live Free or Die.” The US’s contribution to the liberation of Ukraine from Russian war criminals has been a wise investment.
